Graham was born and educated in East Sussex, where he started brass lessons on the Baritone at the age of 12 with the County Music Service. At the age of 14 he was advised to take up the Bass, as his baritone tone was capable of stripping paint from walls (a talent that he still posesses). He consequently took up the BBb bass, even though the instrument was bigger than him at the time, and then moved onto Eb bass when he had realized that it was a far superior instrument. He was given the opportunity to play in bands, orchestras, and ensembles around the area including the County Brass Band, conducted by famous names such as Major Peter Parks, John Miller, Nigel Boddice and Melvyn White.

After finishing college, Graham moved to Newcastle in 2006 to study and ended up at Felling almost immediately.

Now he has finished his education, Graham has a permanent job in the North East as a Theatre Electrician.
