David Scholes Esq a.k.a Scholsey was born in London and brought up in Lancashire where he took up playing Euphonium in 1966. Due to relocation, he joined Felling in September 2007.
Scholsey is known as the bands joker as everything he says is hilarious, even if he’s trying to be serious!
He has played for numerous bands throughout his banding career including Thornton Clevelerys, Poulton le Fylde, Leyland, GUS, Carlisle St Stephens and latterly Barrow Shipyard.
He is a well established brass player who thoroughly enjoys making music in a wide variety of styles and playing solos including Guantanamera which was arranged especially for him and recorded by the Barrow Shipyard Band.
The following statement about Mr. Scholes was published by J. Clough of The British Bandsman 1983: -
‘Dave Scholes has the technical ability of Trevor Grooms dead cat, and the tonal quality of Glen Ball playing on an Allegro exhaust pipe’ J. Clough British Bandsman 1983.
